Privacy Policy

Overview

AlcoGrip is designed with your privacy in mind. We do not collect, sell, or share any personal data. Your drinking logs and personal information stay on your device and are never sent to our servers.

Data stored on your device

All data you enter into AlcoGrip (including your drink logs, goals, and preferences) is stored locally on your device. We have no access to this data whatsoever.

iCloud backup

If you have iCloud backup enabled on your device, your AlcoGrip data may be included in your personal iCloud backup. This backup is managed entirely by Apple and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Apple Health

With your permission, AlcoGrip can read from and write data to Apple Health. This may include information such as the number of drinks logged. Access to Apple Health is entirely optional and can be granted or revoked at any time in your device's Settings.

Data shared with Apple Health is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to any other Health data beyond what AlcoGrip explicitly writes or reads.

Camera

When you choose to scan a drink's label, AlcoGrip uses your camera to take a photo of it. The photo is processed entirely on your device (text recognition plus Apple's on-device Apple Intelligence model) to fill in the drink's name, alcohol percentage and volume. The photo is never stored, and it is never sent to us or anyone else. Camera access is only requested the first time you scan, and you can revoke it at any time in your device's Settings.

Anonymous telemetry

AlcoGrip uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous usage analytics. This helps us understand how the app is used and where to focus improvements.

TelemetryDeck is privacy-focused by design: all signals are anonymised before being sent and it is impossible to trace them back to an individual user. No personally identifiable information is ever collected.

Examples of the anonymous signals we collect include: which screens are visited, which features are used, and the app version and iOS version in use. We never collect the content of your logs or any other personal data.

AlcoGrip uses the following third-party services:
